Why I built this

I'm a diagnosed diabetic. A few years ago I started carrying a small card with my emergency contacts and medical information — in my wallet, and printed for my car — so that if something ever happened to me, whoever found me would know who to call and what they were dealing with.

It worked. But paper cards get out of date the moment your medications or contacts change, and reprinting them every time is a hassle nobody keeps up with. So I built something better for myself: a permanent QR code linked to a page I could update anytime, without ever reprinting anything. It made enough of a difference that I decided to open it up for anyone who wants the same peace of mind — that's My Emergency Info.

Is My Emergency Info HIPAA compliant?

My Emergency Info is a consumer product you fill in yourself, not a service provided by a doctor, hospital, or insurer, so it is not regulated as a medical record under HIPAA. We still take reasonable steps to protect your information, but your page functions as a self-managed emergency card rather than a secure medical record.

Who can see my emergency info page?

Anyone who has your link or scans your QR code can view your page. That's by design, so a first responder can access it in a hurry — only include information you'd be comfortable with a stranger seeing.

How much does My Emergency Info cost?

Free includes one emergency contact, one doctor, and one medication. Essential is $20.99/year with two of each and unlimited updates. Ultimate is $36.99/year with unlimited contacts, doctors, and medications.

Can I update my information after I sign up?

Yes. Essential and Ultimate plans include unlimited updates through your secure edit link, which refreshes every time you save. The free plan's edit link can be used once.

Doesn't my phone already have a Medical ID / emergency info feature built in?

It's a good feature, and we're not here to replace it — you can use both. But phone-based emergency info depends on someone finding your phone, powering it on, and knowing your particular device's gesture for it (it's different on iPhone vs. Android, and by model). My Emergency Info doesn't depend on your phone at all: the same QR code works from a wallet card, a car window sticker, or a bracelet, so it's there even if your phone is lost, dead, damaged, or simply not on you.
